Major Holidays πŸ—“οΈ : The Dates You Should Know

February is Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. It has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. It began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated in February in the United States and Canada, while in Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom it is observed in October.

Sunday, February 7, 2021: Super 🏈 Bowl πŸ†
While not an official holiday, it's undoubtedly celebrated as a significant national event. While watching parties this year will, unfortunately, be limited, families and friends will still care, and you should be promoting watch-party sharing sized dishes all week. Ad targeting football fans is elementary and can produce results throughout the football season. If you're new, unsure, or have never done ad targeting or flighted ads on Facebook and Instagram, reach out to us, let us give you a demo of how easy we've made it.

Sunday, Feb 14th :Valentines πŸ’– Day
The biggest event of February is always Valentine's Day. While this year candlelit dinners may be taking place at home, you can still think of creative solutions to reward your guests. This year, Valentine's Day is on a Sunday, so think of pickup or delivery orders that can capture the magic at home. Help the fellas out with a bouquet of roses on all orders over $50. Help the ladies out with champagne or liquor specials because Monday is a national holiday, so bottoms up or cater to young lovers with discounts on entrees packaged with desserts or chocolate.

Monday, Feb 15th: Presidents πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Day:
Monday holidays, like Presidents day, are perfect opportunities to target family dinners for pickup or delivery. It's been an entire weekend, and the energy to cook and clean another set of meals can be weighing on parents or heads of households. Targeting ads or promoting family meals could benefit your restaurant.

Tuesday Feb 16th: Mardi 🍹 Gras πŸ₯³:
Due to Covid, Mardi Gras will probably be pretty reserved, as opposed to its traditional revelry. That doesn't mean you can't celebrate our betters’ memory and if your city/state allows it, promote some great mixed drink specials with all pick up/delivery orders.

National Food Holidays:
Each month we try to highlight any food holidays that may help you find a promotional niche or marketing opportunity for your restaurant.

February:
❄️ The Real Winter πŸ“… Month
While December or January can claim to be the heart of winter, the coldest and most weather event-ridden month on average is February. With snow and sleet in January, rain storms pending in March, February can be a mix of cold, wet, and not necessarily sunny weather. So let's think of some ways to bring cheer and warmth to your guests this month. Don't forget, health conscience and dieting are still on people's minds as they begin the new year!

Feb 4th: National
πŸ₯£ Homemade Soup Day
A bowl of soup can save the world is a notion that some have shared, and your restaurant should think of how to offer that home-cooked feel with an authentic homemade soup special. The power of a whole chicken, a basic mirepoix, and a 2-hour simmer is fantastic; think of how your restaurant's cuisine origins or your background as a culinary proprietor could create a soup special that you run during this wet, chilly month.

Feb 7th: National πŸ˜‹  Fettuccine Alfredo Day
This family favorite on Super Bowl Sunday is too good an opportunity to cross-promote sharing sized portion of pasta paired with some entrees is sure to solve any watch party or gathering of friend and family.

Feb 9th: National πŸ• Pizza Day
One the most popular dishes in the world, pizza celebrates it's day on Feb 9th. No matter what cuisine or style of food you serve, think on some unique ways you could celebrate the deliciousness of pizza by making your own using ingredients from your menu's staples or pay homage to it in a deconstructed fashion.

Feb 13th: National Tortellini Day πŸ˜›
Per the legend of the Goddess Venus, she once stayed at a tavern in the Italian city of Bologna. The owner, spying on her through a keyhole, was only able to see her navel. He was so inspired by the sight that he rushed to his kitchen and created the navel-shaped pasta we now call tortellini. Popular with kids and families, a cheap and easy menu item to produce and promote.

Feb 18th: National 🍷 Drink Wine Day
This year national wine day falls on a Thursday. If your city/state allows it, promote a THIRSTY THURSDAY and pair some wine bottles from your restaurant’s cellar with some entrees for the perfect pick up or delivery offer.

Feb 25th: National 🍲 Chili Day
The last week of February is the perfect time to roll out a house chili to warm your guests up. While there are dozens of styles, methods, and bases for chilis, there are nine chilis that you should know about and think if you could run a special for this popular food type.
